The college spring breakers can be found around Myrtle Beach, and the families move further south to Hilton Head! This low key spot is just off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia. It is a 12 mile long, 5 mile wide island featuring 14 miles of beaches. Hilton Head Island is close enough to take trip to Savannah or Charleston for a taste of the cities rich history and charm. Hilton Head Island also offers a variety of eco-adventures such as crabbing or dolphin spotting along the beach.

This island is situation at the most northeastern part of Florida. This is a perfect get away for those looking for an extremely peaceful break with the children. The island has managed to escape much of the commercialization that plagues other parts of Florida, because of this, it does not attract a typical spring breaker. The island offers plenty of swimming, sunbathing, fishing and kite-flying on the shores. For a change of scenery, Fernandina Beach has a variety of shops and restaurant. The city is a celebration of the Victorian era and boasts restored mansions and elegant lawns alongside of Centre Street.

The U.S. Virgin Islands has everything the family needs for a full out spring break vacation. Snorkeling and fishing are the top activities here. There are many islands to choose from that make up the U.S. Virgin Islands. The island of St. Thomas has many choices for sightseeing and shopping areas. Coral World Ocean Park offers underwater trails near a coral reef. There are no passports needed, and the U.S. dollar is the currency.

For a South Cali spring break experience with the family, be sure to visit the various towns nestled between Los Angeles and San Diego. There are plenty of beaches, piers, water sports, and amusement areas. The Huntington Beach Pier is a must see with its shops and dining spots. Learn water sports history at the International Surfing Museum before trying it out yourselves with one of the surf lesson companies in town. A day trip to Newport Beach offers the Balboa Fun Zone that features an old fashioned ferris wheel and games for kids of all ages.

 

Carlsbad, CA

One of the best spots for family fun, this spot is located about 30 minutes from San Diego and offers beaches, theme parks, zoos, and museums all wrapped into one family vacation. Carlsbad beach offers quiet and calm shores, as well as quaint shopping and dining. LEGOLAND California is close enough for a day trip with the kids, as well as the San Diego Zoo. The Zoo offers private tours of the animals before the park opens, as well as a train ride into the zoo!

 

Riviera Maya

If you’re looking to venture out of the U.S, Riviera Maya offers a family friendly vacation spot. It is about 30 minutes north of the much more densely developed Cancun, which normally attracts a lot of spring breakers. A number of all-inclusive family resort options make the getaway easy. There are tons of kid friendly spots to hang with slides and splash parks at most pools, as well as eco-adventures such as snorkeling. This would be an excellent trip to influence the children with culture, with the many tours of the Mayan ruins, this is a spot that the adults can enjoy as equally. St.Martin/Sint Maarten

It is most definitely one island, but there is a French side and a Dutch side. Both sides of the island are distinctively unique. The French side of St. Martin is a culinary escape with everything from local street food to world famous French cuisine and pastry restaurants. On the Dutch side of Sint Maarten, there are beautiful and unusual beaches such as Maho Beach where airplanes fly very close to the beach as they land at the airport. There are plenty of spots for overlooks, sightseeing, and enjoying everything this family friendly spot has to offer.
